“Where Friends Play Music For Friends” |
|
Jim started collecting DooWop in 60 - 61 when he bought copies of ONCE IN AWHILE BY THE CHIMES, DIAMONDS AND PEARLS BY THE PARADONS, THE TEENAGE VOW OF LOVE BY THE DREAMERS, WHERE OR WHEN BY DION AND THE BELMONTS AND BLUE MOON BY THE MARCELS. During that time he began listening to a DJ named George Tucker on WNHC-AM in New Haven, Ct. who played “oldies”. That was when he first heard tunes like THE WIND BY THE DIABLOS, DEATH OF AN ANGEL BY DONALD WOODS AND THE VELAIRS. He started to collect them also. In 1970 during the “Rock n Roll Revival” era, he began to listen to New York DJ Gus Gossert. The music had come alive again. In 1973 Jim decided to start his own radio show on college station WNHU-FM in Connecticut. He patterned his show after what George and Gus had done. He called it The Wax Museum. Jim went off the air in 1974 but always knew he would like to return to broadcasting one day. So now DooWopRadio4U® is proud to present ... Jim and his Wax Museum every third Sunday of the month from 8 PM - 11 PM. |

Dolores (Dee) was born on March 26, 1944 in Passaic, N.J.. She spent her growing up years in Wallington, N.J. where she hung out at Maple’s Sweet Shop listening to some of the greatest music that we now call DooWop. From there she and her friends seemed to make it to NYC as often as they could to attend Alan Freed Shows (not that her Mom knew). Dee is a widow with 3 grown daughters (Donna, Sharon & Lori) and 7 grandkids. Two girls and five boys. Her great-grandson is one year old and all Dee has to say is… “Phew it has been a trip!” Dee has been a member of UGHA for many years and has met many of the legends. She has made many friends that are in the music business. She hopes she can get some of them to come over so she can interview them during her show in Lodi, N.J. where she now resides. Dee is also a commissioned minister and she Loves The Lord, so God Bless. You can tune in DWDee’s Echoes Of the Past show on DooWopRadio4U® … Friday Night From 8 PM - 10 PM and every other Saturday will be Acappella Night 8 PM - 10 PM |

Jerry was born on March 23, 1944 and grew up in the Pelham Bay area of Bronx, NY . He was an only child. His father loved to sing and sang to him from the time he was in the cradle. He grew up knowing songs from his parents era. When he was 13 or 14 he started hearing R N R with Alan Freed. He had a great group of neighborhood friends and they started singing. Nicky (Flaps), First Tenor, Charlie (Rubberlegs), baritone, Mike, second tenor, and Jerry, lead and falsetto. They sang on the corner, in front of the candy store, in hallways, at dances and in all the bathrooms for the great echo. He could imitate Frankie Lymon’s voice perfectly back then. He loved growing up in the area and the era of music that he did. Jerry graduated from High School in 1965 and went straight into the Army then back home to the Bronx. He eventually moved up to Troy, NY to work in a family restaurant where he met his wife of 37 yrs. They have 2 daughters. Tammie & Lorraine. They have 2 granddaughters, Brittany & Danielle Jerry and Elise now live in Florida. He keeps busy DJing on DooWopRadio4U® and doing chores around the house. Jerry’s show is called “Jukebox Jerry’s Time Machine”. Jerry is on hiatus until further notice. We miss you Jerry. |
